Mrs. Dannewitz's Famous Gingersnaps

This is a basic ginger cookie.  It crackles perfectly as it bakes.


Ingredients
1 c sugar
3/4 c unsalted butter
1 egg
4 Tbs molasses
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp ginger
2 tsp baking soda
2 1/4 c flour.

Directions
1.  Mix butter and sugar with an electric mixer until smooth.
2.  Add the egg and mix well.
3.  Add the molasses and mix well.
4.  Add all dry ingredients in a small bowl and stir to mix.
5.  Add dry ingredients to butter mixture until smooth.
7.  Bake at 350 for 7-9 minutes.
